UrbanA Community Conversation: Addressing poverty via food solidarity

June 30, 2020 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm CEST

Although the current covid-19 crisis has seen strong benefits for health and local economies, access to (quality) food has worsened for the most vulnerable with risks of increased hunger and malnutrition, exacerbated by potential localized price hikes

In this Community Conversation, we will discuss:

  • How have cities supported those in need of food during the crisis?
  • How have cities reorganized traditional food aid systems, such as funded meals in canteens or regular food distributions?
  • How can food more widely address (urban) poverty?

In answering these questions, Marcelline Bonneau (Resilia Solutions, URBACT and UIA Expert) will open the session sharing practices from cities throughout Europe which have addressed the current food crisis (Atheniou, Mollet de Valles, Milan, Mouans-Sartoux and Lille).
