One aim of UrbanA is to establish a Community of Practice (CoP) of people who share a passion for sustainable and just cities.
Like any CoP it has three main elements:
A shared interest – in this case justice and sustainability in cities
A community that shares this interest – all active participants in, contributors to and followers of the project
What the community undertakes together – ongoing engagement in UrbanA through the four Arena events, Arena side events and other project activities.
The core of UrbanA is a collaborative learning process, in the form of a series of arena events, that combines the competences of UrbanA partners with those of other researchers and practitioners involved in city making. The UrbanA CoP will be both a core outcome and integral component of this learning process.
Structure of the UrbanA CoP
The structure of a CoP can be represented as a series of concentric circles, each indicating different levels of engagement.
The CoP will be sustained on an ongoing basis by targeted communications activities and social learning processes.
Webinars will help prepare participants for the main Arena events – the first webinar takes place on 5th November 2019 – and build the community, as will the possibility to engage with UrbanA tools, reports, podcasts and blogs, all to be collated on this website.
